Rick Dourm Flagger to Field Supervisor

Rick Dourm – Protector Promoted to Area Field Supervisor

Team AWP, June 16, 2023

Rick Dourm, our newly appointed Cuyahoga Falls area field supervisor, values safety and provides the best service to our customers. Rick joined AWP Safety as a Protector in June 2022, but brought with him supervisor experience that allowed him to quickly gain traction and prove his leadership abilities.

One of his early assignments as a Protector involved working on site in East Palestine, Ohio where there was a train derailment earlier this year. Rick spoke of arriving on the job after a previous traffic control company failed to meet expectations and said that the customer expressed relief upon AWP Safety’s arrival. Crew members continue working the site around the clock to support the East Palestine community and job site workers as the railway recovers.

In April 2023, Rick was appointed as the new field supervisor overseeing the Cuyahoga Falls office. While conducting job site inspections, he carries his own flagger experience with him and can empathize with Protectors. Rick understands the long hours and changing work conditions that Protectors experience, and he strives to support the crews in any way he can. During one site visit, Rick met up with a Protector that was on the East Palestine job with him months prior. The Protector congratulated Rick on his promotion to field supervisor, saying he was well deserving of the job.

Rick’s previous experiences in a supervisor position and as a flagger have helped build him into a field supervisor that understands and supports Protectors while upholding the vision, mission, and values of AWP Safety.

On behalf of the AWP Safety team, congratulations, Rick, and thank you for your hard work!
