How AWP Safety Scaled Traffic Control for a Major Fiber Deployment in Washington

Traffic Control Projects, October 19, 2026

AWP Safety helped a major fiber internet provider and its construction partner keep a large-scale fiber deployment moving across Washington state with reliable traffic control, responsive coordination and field support that could grow as project needs changed.

Customer Challenge

The fast-moving construction program required traffic control support across multiple cities and active work zones. Staffing needs could shift quickly—from a few traffic control professionals at one location to larger crews supporting complex operations across several sites.

The project also required:

  • Rapid mobilization as additional construction crews joined the project
  • Consistent coordination among multiple contractors and field teams
  • Dependable access to trucks, portable changeable message signs (PCMS) and other equipment
  • Immediate response when schedules, site conditions or project priorities changed

With work advancing on several fronts, even a short traffic control delay could disrupt construction schedules and slow fiber deployment.

AWP Safety Solutions

AWP Safety drew on the strength of its Washington operations to provide dependable support wherever and whenever crews needed it. Local field supervisors, project managers and branch teams worked closely with contractors to anticipate needs, address changing conditions and keep resources aligned with the construction schedule.

Support included:

  • Daily deployment of four to 20 traffic control professionals at multiple locations, for each subcontractor
  • Four to five traffic control vehicles in operation each day at multiple locations, for each subcontractor
  • Multiple PCMS (portable changeable message sign) boards supporting complex work zones at multiple locations, for each subcontractor
  • Field supervisors and project managers visiting active sites three to four times daily
  • Rapid deployment of crews and equipment through three regional branches serving Washington

This combination of local oversight, regional resources and scalable staffing allowed AWP Safety to respond quickly as the project expanded or shifted to new locations.

Measurable Results

AWP Safety’s responsive, scalable approach helped the internet provider and it’s construction partner maintain progress on one of Washington’s largest fiber infrastructure deployments.

By coordinating resources across multiple locations and responding quickly to changing field needs, AWP Safety helped:

  • Keep construction crews working safely and efficiently
  • Minimize traffic control-related schedule disruptions
  • Maintain reliable support across simultaneous work zones
  • Scale staffing and equipment as project demands changed

Our ongoing partnership demonstrates how experienced traffic control planning, local field leadership and regional scale can help complex infrastructure projects stay on track.
